‘Highly rate’, ‘Seems overpriced’: Some West Ham fans react to reported interest in ‘real handful’

Some West Ham United fans have been reacting on social media to reports by the Express that David Moyes is considering a move for Roman Yaremchuk.

The Irons boss is finalising his shortlist of strikers to target in the summer as he seeks Sebastien Haller’s replacement. West Ham have been without natural cover for Michail Antonio since the Ivorian joined Ajax in the January transfer window.

Yaremchuk features on the Hammers board as the London Stadium outfit have extensively scouted the Belgian Jupiler Pro League recently. Their talent spotters also watched Joakim Maehlem and Sander Berge in 2019/20 before they joined Atalanta and Sheffield United.

West Ham could now raid Belgium looking to sign Yaremchuk as Gent are unlikely to block a move. The Ghelamco Arena side will likely demand similar to the £24million they received from Lille for Jonathan David last year to sell the 25-year-old, however.

What To Expect From England At Euro 2020?!

La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga clubs in Sevilla, Bologna and Bayer Leverkusen are also among Yaremchuk’s fellow suitors. Interest in the Ukraine forward may also grow should he enjoy a strong Euro 2020 after scoring against the Netherlands.

Yaremchuk now has nine goals in 25 games for Ukraine since making his international debut in 2018. He also scored 23 times in 43 games, while offering eight assists, for Gent across all competitions last season.

West Ham fans react to Yaremchuk interest

But not all West Ham fans are yet sold on the idea of signing Yaremchuk in the summer transfer window. That’s because a few feel Gent are likely to ask for more than the 6 ft 3 centre-forward is worth.

Others also have concerns West Ham are targeting Yaremchuk after he performed well against the Netherlands. Along with scoring his side’s equaliser in the 3-2 defeat last Sunday, the striker assisted Andriy Yarmolenko while two behind.

However, there are a few West Ham fans who would welcome Yaremchuk to the London Stadium. They have been impressed with what they have seen from the 25-year-old at Euro 2020 and for Gent last season.
