Hibernian chairman confirms talks for ‘terrific’ Rangers player Ross McCrorie

It appears increasingly likely that Rangers will be selling talented Ibrox youngster Ross McCrorie in the coming days, as Steven Gerrard prepares to let the youngster move on to find regular football elsewhere.

The talented utility player first emerged as a real Rangers first-team option during Pedro Caixinha’s doomed spell at Ibrox but has struggled to maintain a first-team spot under Gerrard.

The 16-cap Scotland under-21 international spent last season out on loan and the 22-year-old has played no part for Rangers so far this season.

It does, however, appear that the Ibrox youngster will be remaining in Scotland.

Hibernian appears to be his most likely next destination.

As reported by the BBC, Hibs have returned with a second offer for the Rangers star after their initial approach fell short of his valuation.

But yesterday, Hibernian chairman Ron Gordon was quoted by Edinburgh News as making it clear the club were moving in on the Rangers star.

“We’re in negotiations,” he told Hibs TV. “Ross is a terrific young player.”

His exit will undoubtedly be a big blow for some Rangers fans. Gerrard himself will also be disappointed, considering he tipped McCrorie to have ‘a great future’ at Ibrox and even stated his belief the versatile star could be a ‘future captain’ for Rangers in a 2019 press conference.

But it seems McCrorie has simply not kicked on and is not prepared to wait for his chance.

Rangers fans will just hope they do not live to regret this decision.
