'I wasn't expecting that': Heung-Min Son makes hilarious admission as he's handed the Golden Boot trophy

Tottenham forward, Heung-Min Son, became the first Asian player to win the Premier League Golden Boot as he scored two at Norwich today.

Spurs cruised to a massive win at Carrow Road to seal their place in the top four and ensure Antonio Conte can head into the summer with Champions League football on offer to prospective signings. Of course, it’s made all the more sweeter for Tottenham that they did it at the expense of rivals, Arsenal.

Of course, Tottenham would be nowhere near anything without the goals of Son and Harry Kane. The attacking pair have been exceptional once more for Spurs, proving key players for Conte and thriving under his system. For Son, winning the Golden Boot alongside Mo Salah is a huge achievement, and he gave a surprising reaction when he was handed the trophy.

“It’s really heavy, I wasn’t expecting that. It was a great, great day for me,” Son told the BBC.

“It’s incredible to have this award. I can’t believe it. I got really emotional. I dreamed of it as a child. Literally it’s my in hands. I can’t believe it. Until my goal I was really frustrated that I missed big chances. I told the players I missed the easiest chances and scored one of the toughest tones. I didn’t give up. I wanted to score today. The team helped me a lot at half-time. They wanted to help me, you could see it today.”

Son ended the season with 23 goals. Crucially, he did it without scoring a single penalty.

The South Korean is arguably as important as Harry Kane to this team now and he fully deserves to share the Golden Boot with the equally brilliant Mo Salah.

Son will rightly play Champions League football next season and Spurs fans can look forward to another memorable campaign under Conte.
