'He's very talented': Nuno raves about 22-year-old in Spurs ranks
Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo has described Emerson Royal as a “good” and “very talented” player.
The Tottenham manager also said the N17 newcomer has settled in well and pledged to “improve” him.
Spurs completed a £25million deal for Emerson from Barcelona on transfer deadline day.
The 22-year-old completed his Tottenham medical in Spain and jetted to England on Sunday.
Emerson has been training with his new teammates and coaches this week, and is in line to make his debut on Saturday.
Having already played for Barcelona this season, he’s match fit and should be able to feature against Crystal Palace.
At Friday’s pre-match press conference, football.london asked Nuno why Spurs signed Emerson.
Nuno replied: “He’s a good player, he’s very talented.
“He showed himself in La Liga, which is a tough competition.
“We signed him because we believe he can help us.
“He’s an offensive full-back. He has aspects to improve and that’s our job.”
The media outlet then asked Nuno how Emerson was settling in at N17.
“He has settled in well,” replied the manager. “He has to improve his English.
“(Emerson) only hangs around with Lucas at this moment, which is normal, but he has settled in well.
“He is a good player and, the way the group is operating, any player that joins us is integrated well.
“The boys are aware that everybody should feel comfortable and in a nice environment so Emerson is okay.”
