'He's very good': Ben White says Arsenal have a superb 17-year-old in their ranks
Arsenal defender Ben White says Gunners academy ace Charlie Patino is the Hale End youngster who’s caught his eye the most.
The 17-year-old is one of many academy talents tipped for stardom in the coming years and is apparently rated very highly by Gunners coaches.
Known for his technical ability and agility in midfield, Patino has often played for higher age groups.
As a 14-year-old, he captained England’s Under-16s against Spain and made his debut for Arsenal’s Under-18s against Chelsea.
Last season, Patino earned promotion to the Under-23s – a great achievement considering his age – and made four appearances.
This season, he’s featuring regularly for the Under-23s and certainly looking a cut above – surely proof that a senior debut is not far away.
Charles Watts said last month that Patino “made a big impression on some of his senior teammates” in the friendly with Brentford.
And now, speaking on Twitch, White has praised the young attacking midfielder.
“There’s a lot to be fair,” he said when asked about Arsenal’s academy gems.
“They’re in our training sessions a lot and they’re not struggling.
“Our training is really high quality and they have fitted right into that, there’s a lot coming through.”
When asked which youngster had caught his eye the most, White replied: “Charlie (Patino), he’s very good.”
