‘He’s top’: Aaron Ramsdale says he hates coming up against Arsenal youngster in training
Nketiah has been limited to starts in the Europa League and appearances from the bench this season after the arrival of Gabriel Jesus over the summer.
The 23-year-old impressed towards the end of last season but is currently a back-up option to Jesus. He’s managed three goals in seven starts for the Gunners this season and has shown he’s got an eye for goal.
And Ramsdale claims that Nketiah is one of the most difficult players to face in Arsenal training.
Ramsdale hates coming up against Nketiah
Speaking to ESPN, Ramsdale admitted that he hates coming up against Nketiah at London Colney due to his finishing abilities.
“I’d say Eddie Nketiah is probably one of the hardest to come up against in training finishing wise,” he said.
“He’s just a goalscorer man, he’s top.”
Nketiah would have been hoping to play a bigger role at Arsenal this season, especially after being handed the number 14 shirt.
But the Gunners academy product will have to be patient over the course of the season, especially with Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in such brilliant form.
Arteta is clearly a big fan of Nketiah and the youngster signed a new deal over the summer.
He should get his chance to impress once again over the course of the season, with plenty of games yet to play.
Arsenal are slightly light in terms of their attacking depth and should Jesus pick up an injury at any point, Nketiah would be the obvious choice to step into the starting line-up.
In the meantime, Nketiah will have the chance to impress Arteta over the next month while Arsenal’s front-three are playing at the World Cup.
