Real Madrid fans have reacted on Twitter to Everton midfielder James Rodriguez claiming that returning to the La Liga giants is a ‘closed cycle’, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

The 30-year-old was brought to Merseyside by Carlo Ancelotti last summer, but the playmaker endured an indifferent time in Everton colours.

It didn’t help Rodriguez’s cause, or anyone in that Everton dressing room, when Ancelotti headed for the exit door this summer and decided to return to the Bernabeu.

Well, Rodriguez, who has been rumoured to leave Goodison Park, made it clear that following in Ancelotti to Spain won’t be happening.

“Are you going back to Real Madrid?,” said Rodriguez. “No, I don’t think so.

“That is a closed cycle which I won’t repeat.”

Real Madrid supporters are seemingly in agreement with the former 2014 World Cup star and are happy that he won’t be donning their colours again.

Rodriguez played his best football under Ancelotti at Madrid, but it doesn’t seem as though that partnership will reunite.

Even at Bayern Munich, he didn’t pull up any trees and Everton fans will be hoping that same cycle doesn’t follow him in their colours.

The Toffees are missing that creative spark and that forward-thinking nature in the middle of the park.

Rodriguez can no doubt provide it, but does he have the consistency to showcase that and can Rafa Benitez get the best out of him?
