Danny Murphy believes that Harry Kane will now look incredibly silly if he looks to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer following an interview he has given about the season.

Murphy was speaking on talkSPORT after Harry Kane gave an interview to Sky Sports in which he spoke about the culture at Spurs. The striker suggested that he wanted to help improve that moving forward.

Of course, there is plenty of speculation surrounding Kane heading into the summer. The 29-year-old is approaching the final year of his contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Unfortunately, the striker is still awaiting the chance to win the first major honour of his career at club level. And for some pundits, the time has come for the forward to move on if he hopes to cement his legacy as one of the greatest.

So it is particularly interesting that Kane has now given this interview about the improvements he hopes to see at Tottenham.

Certainly, Danny Murphy believes that it is an indication that he is not planning to go anywhere this summer.

“The Harry Kane interview is interesting. There’s two aspects to this. What we were talking about, which is attitude, culture, discipline, which come from the manager and then the senior players carry that on. This whole interview suggests to me that he’s staying,” he told talkSPORT.

“It really does, because if not, he’s going to look really silly. When you’re talking about connecting with the supporters, it wasn’t long ago, you were on a golf course with Gary Neville talking about time to leave and blah, blah, blah, and he’s trying to get a move to City, right. That’s not connecting with your supporters, is it?”

There are a couple of factors Kane has to consider before he burns his bridges with Tottenham. Firstly, only a handful of teams in world football can afford him and have the need to splash the cash on a striker this summer.

Secondly, that number of sides gets even smaller when you consider that Daniel Levy probably does not want to let him join a Premier League rival.

Kane may now feel that staying one more year may be a risk worth taking before reevaluating his future, rather than pushing for a move this summer that may never happen.

Or he may be happy to stay at Tottenham and guarantee that he ends his career as a club legend.
