‘He’s starting to get on my nerves’: Some Arsenal fans aren’t happy with their player

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Lucas Torreira’s comments on his “dream” move to Boca Juniors after staying in “Europe” for a while.

The Uruguayan found consistent game time hard to come by for the Gunners earlier this season, with now-departed manager Unai Emery largely utilising him as a rotation player.

Torreira has since become a key member of Arsenal’s squad under Mikel Arteta, though his last few appearances for the Gunners prior to the shutdown were off the bench (Transfermarkt).

The 24-year-old, who signed for the Gunners in a £26million deal from Sampdoria in 2018, admitted in 2019 that he missed life in Italy as he criticised the weather in Britain, as reported by Metro.

According to agent Pablo Bentancur, Torreira is already considering a return to Serie A and is open to a move away from the Gunners this summer.

“I will have to speak to Arsenal,” he told Tuttomercatoweb earlier in May. “The player would love to return to Italy, but it must be acknowledged that Arsenal treated him very well and behaved great.”

Torreira has now told Fox Sports Argentina: “I imagine a Copa Libertadores night at the Bombonera wearing Boca’s shirt, of course.

“Right now my head is in Europe and I want to stay for a while. But I have that desire and dream to go [to Boca] – and not just to retire, but to compete and feel what the Boca world is.”

As it’s not the first time that Torreira or a member of his entourage has alluded to a move away, the patience of some Arsenal fans is starting to wear thin.
