Arsenal might have one of the best managers around in the league right now but just who in the current squad could follow him?

Mikel Arteta has been super impressive since taking over at the club. He guided them to an FA Cup in his first year in charge and this year, is very much in the title fight.

For now, Arsenal are delighted with their manager and there’s no reason to change. At the same time, Arsenal’s squad are lucky to have someone like Arteta to learn from and work under.

Indeed, it would be no surprise to see a number of this team follow in Arteta’s footsteps and make the jump into management.

Current Arsenal player could be the new Mikel Arteta

Arsenal’s squad is a young one in the main. But among the squad there are a core group of more experienced players, such as Jorginho, Cedric, and Mohamed Elneny.

Indeed, those three are well respected in the squad and could have big futures in the game when they are done.

And when asked by Stadium Astro which current Arsenal player would make the best manager when they’re done playing, defender William Saliba was straight in selecting Jorginho.

“I think he’d be a good manager. He’s so smart,” Saliba said.

In the same interview, fellow defender Gabriel Magalhaes also went with Jorginho as his pick.

Jorginho is destined to be a manager

Saliba calls Jorginho smart here and you can see in the way the Italian plays the game that he’s going to go on and do the business after retirement.

Mikel Arteta values Jorginho a lot in this squad. There was a reason he went and bought him in January 2023 and he’s been proven right with the signing.

Clearly, Jorginho is well respected among his Arsenal teammates as well. The fact both Gabriel and Saliba were in no doubt about picking the Italian speaks volumes.

Jorginho will remain crucial for Arsenal in the title run-in and if they do win it, he’ll have more than played his part on and off the pitch.
