‘He’s so smart’: Journalist claims Emerson Royal has said one of his Tottenham teammates is so ‘easy’ to play alongside

Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has apparently told journalist Natalie Gedra that Dejan Kulusevski is so ‘easy’ to play alongside.

The Brazilian journalist made a guest appearance on the View from the Lane podcast and revealed a conversation she had with the Spurs man.

Emerson and Kulusevski have struck up a decent partnership down the right-hand side of the pitch under Antonio Conte.

The Brazilian has got the nod in every single game this season but Kulusevski has been dropped in the last two games for Richarlison.

But the pair played a long stretch of games together towards the end of last season and at the beginning of the current campaign.

And Emerson apparently told Gedra that Kulusevski is easy to play with due to him being ‘so smart’.

The ESPN journalist shared a recent conversation she had with Emerson about the Swedish international.

“I was actually talking to Royal the other day. He said ‘you wouldn’t believe how easy it is to play with Kulusevski because he’s so smart’,” Gedra told the View from the Lane podcast

“His vision and the way he sees the game, it’s quite impressive. Everyone seems impressed with him.

“Not only with his physicality because he’s big and sometimes because he’s so big and has this presence we forget that he’s a young player.

“But he is very smart and I told him he’s very young. And he [Emerson] was almost offended that ‘he’s younger than me’.

“He was like but he’s already so developed and the way.”

Kulusevski has been brilliant for Spurs since making the switch from Juventus back in January.

The 22-year-old adjusted to Premier League football instantly and was key in helping Conte’s men get back into the Champions League.

The winger now faces competition for his place in the side in Richarlison but put in a decent display when coming off the bench against Marseille on Wednesday night.

Kulusevski certainly links up well with Emerson and he will be hoping to force his way back into the Spurs side in the coming weeks.
