Jamie Carragher has tipped Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe for England glory and admits he “absolutely” loves watching him play football.

The 21-year-old delivered an impressive display as Mikel Arteta’s Gunners ran out 3-1 winners at Aston Villa on Friday night.

Smith Rowe provided the assist for the opener, his 23rd-minute corner kick falling to Thomas Partey, who headed home.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then netted late on in first-half injury time to give Arsenal a 2-0 half-time lead.

Smith Rowe made it 3-0 just before the hour with an effort that came off Tyrone Mings and clipped the post before going into the net.

Villa youngster Jacob Ramsey then scored a late consolation for Dean Smith’s charges, but it was too little too late.

Smith Rowe is yet to earn a call-up to the England senior squad, but Carragher believes it’s only a matter of time.

“Emile Smith Rowe will get England caps, absolutely no doubt,” he told Sky Sports, via the Daily Mail.

“He’ll have to bide his time, there are other young players ahead of him right now but I absolutely love that lad.

“I always want him to do well, you’re urging him on.

“To watch him in full flow, I’ve said he’s the best player in the Premier League running the ball.

“He’s so exciting, the pace, moving with the ball. He’s a special talent.

“He can pop up in different positions, he has that ability to play all four positions up top and that’s a real bonus.”
