'He's right', 'truth hurts': Some Spurs fans react to what Jose Mourinho has said about the club
Spurs fans have given their thoughts on Jose Mourinho’s “brutally honest” comments about Harry Kane and Tottenham.
Mourinho got his marching orders in April, meaning a new Tottenham manager is high up on Daniel Levy’s agenda.
Likewise, Kane is reportedly eager to leave Spurs in wake of a trophy drought stretching back to 2008.
The 27-year-old striker has been nothing short of sensational for Spurs and England over the years.
Indeed, he is the third player in Premier League history to claim the Golden Boot and get the most assists in the same season.
Kane scored 23 goals in the top flight this season and also registered 14 assists.
His overall record for Spurs reads 336 appearances, 221 goals and 47 assists.
Kane also captains England and boasts 34 goals from 54 Three Lions appearances.
Despite being arguably the best striker in the world, he hasn’t won a single major trophy.
Kane is currently on duty with England, who are fine-tuning their preparations ahead of Euro 2020.
And Mourinho, speaking in The Sun, couldn’t resist having a dig at Spurs while talking about Kane’s England hopes.
“Harry is the one that has on his shoulders a lot,” he said.
“The country expects a lot from him. He expects a lot from himself.
“He’s the captain and he wants to win something.
“He’s not doing that with the club, so, of course, he’s going to try everything he can to do it with the Three Lions.”
And some Spurs fans, already fuming with their club’s failed approach for Antonio Conte, agreed with Mourinho.
Could Spurs lose Kane to Manchester City?
Manchester City are said to be planning talks with Spurs over Kane’s signature, as reported by The Guardian.
In May, Kane spoke to Gary Neville on The Overlap and described Kevin De Bruyne as a “special, special player” whose deliveries are “a striker’s dream”.
Unsurprisingly, the England captain’s comments have fuelled speculation linking him with a move to the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.
