Watford striker, Troy Deeney, who has recently been linked with a move to Tottenham, has insisted that Harry Kane does not get enough credit for being ‘world-class’.
Among the topics to come up was the debate around who is deemed world-class in football and who isn’t. And Kane, despite scoring five and leading the Premier League assist chart this term, is often overlooked – according to Deeney.
“Unless you’re name is foreign, you never really get put in that world-class category. People say Lewandowski, Benzema, people always put other above him, but his goal record is ridiculous.
“He’s never at the forefront of the names but he’s world-class, he’s ridiculous. His goals record is a joke”.
Deeney was speaking alongside former Spurs striker Darren Bent, who said that while he’d put Kane in his top five strikers in Europe, he doesn’t necessarily consider him a top five player overall.
Kane has scored over 200 goals for club and country and could well be on course to break Wayne Rooney’s record for England if he can keep fit and clear of serious injury.
No doubt about it, Kane is world-class – TBR View
Kane is the best out and out striker in the Premier League. There is no argument anymore.
Sergio Aguero was that man for a while but his inconsistencies thanks to injury and now his age, mean Kane has jumped ahead of him the queue.
Remarkably, Kane seems to be getting even better. His new found ability to drop deep and create is scaring defenders to death and Tottenham have a genuine chance of silverware this year if he can carry on how he is.
