Arsenal legend Liam Brady has spoken highly of Gunners star Gabriel Jesus on The Stand with Eamon Dunphy.

The Arsenal striker has been a revelation for Mikel Arteta’s side since arriving in the summer.

Jesus hit the ground running at the Emirates Stadium, with five goals and seven assists so far for Arsenal this season.

While he hasn’t scored in any of his last seven games, the Brazilian has still been contributing plentifully to the cause.

Against Nottingham Forest, Jesus weighed in with two assists for Arsenal en route to a 5-0 victory at the Emirates.

Brady isn’t just impressed with the 25-year-old’s talent and displays, but also his attitude and workrate.

He believes Jesus is setting an example for his teammates to follow.

“I think Jesus has been really important,” said Brady.

“He’s really enthusiastic and he chases down the defenders and things like that.

“I think everyone is taking the lead off of him, his work-rate is phenomenal, he’s back in the defence and back in the midfield.

“He could have had two goals against Forest, but he’s out of luck at the moment.

“People are taking the lead off of him because of his work-rate for the team.

“He’s a leader on the pitch and he’s been a massive signing for Arsenal.”

The long game

Arteta copped a lot of criticism for offloading Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 10 months ago.

Even more flak came the Arsenal manager’s way for failing to replace him and subsequently missing out on the Champions League.

Nonetheless, Arteta played the long game when it came to bringing in a new first-choice No. 9 at the Emirates.

Arsenal went with Jesus, and he has proven to be a sensational signing for the north Londoners.
