West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has told the Footballer’s Football Podcast that he’s getting so frustrated with Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.

The Hammers fell to a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Sunday evening and will still be wondering how they came away from the game with nothing.

Marcus Rashford’s goal proved to be the difference between the sides but De Gea put in an inspired display between the sticks.

The £19 million man made some eye-catching stops to deny Kurt Zouma, Declan Rice and Antonio himself towards the end of the game.

Now, the West Ham striker has admitted that it’s frustrating playing against the Spanish shot stopper.

Antonio frustrated with De Gea

Reflecting on Sunday’s loss, Antonio singled out De Gea’s performance and spoke about facing him throughout the years.

“De Gea, argh. It’s so frustrating. Some of the saves he’s been putting up are unbelievable,” he told the Footballer’s Football Podcast.

“He’s done that to us for the last three years we’ve gone up there. We have had so many chances and he’s just decided to turn up for our games. He was unbelievable.

“They played well defensively. [Lisandro] Martinez was quality, he was a rock, Harry Maguire came in and did well – with all the comments – but he was solid.

“[Diogo] Dalot took three balls off my head at the back stick!

“De Gea, over the last few years, playing against him, he has pulled out some worldies against me.

“I think it was in lockdown and I had three opportunities against him, back stick header, pulled it out, unbelievable save. Left foot shot, edge of the box, going just inside top bins and he’s finger tipped it over the bar.

“Next one was five yards out I hit him just to the left of him, and he’s still managed to get something on it!

“There’s a few games where he has done this to me and he’s really annoying me, not going to lie!”

De Gea is regarded as one of, if not the best, shot stoppers in world football and Sunday’s display showcases why.

The 31-year-old’s performance is what handed Erik Ten Hag’s men the win at Old Trafford.

They were under massive pressure towards the end of the game but the Spaniard came up big for his side when called upon.
