Sven-Goran Eriksson says Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is the only player he’d certainly have had in his World Cup squads.

The former England manager lauded the Spurs and England star on talkSPORT in wake of the Three Lions’ latest Nations League outings.

Kane has been sensational for Tottenham and England over the years.

The 29-year-old has a tally of 254 goals from 395 Spurs outings, as well as 51 goals from 75 Three Lions caps.

England have just played out their final games before the 2022 World Cup, which starts in just over 50 days.

On Tuesday, talkSPORT had Eriksson on to discuss the Three Lions’ latest outings, as well as looking ahead to Qatar.

When asked which current England players would make the cut in the squads he picked, only Kane sprung to mind.

“A starting XI, I would always put Kane,” said Eriksson.

“I consider Kane one of the best strikers in the world because he has everything.

“He’s strong physically, he would have a good pass of the ball, good shot, goal-scorer, you name it.

“It’s very difficult to play against him because he’s powerful.

“And once again if he is in a good shape in the World Cup England has a good chance.

“So, Kane starting XI, then I’m not sure.”

Eriksson had some amazing players at his disposal, including Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Robbie Fowler and Teddy Sheringham.

And that’s just up front – you then have the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes, Frank Lampard, David Beckham and so on.

So for Eriksson to name Kane as the only certainty in his squad speaks volumes to the Tottenham star’s quality.
