'He's perfect': Micah Richards says Tottenham have a player who's like Neymar, he'll shine at the World Cup

Micah Richards has tipped Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min to shine at the forthcoming World Cup.

Son’s participation was briefly in doubt when he went off with a facial injury in the first half of Spurs’ 2-1 win over Marseille in the final round of Champions League group stage matches.

But he has been pictured training in a facemask ahead of the tournament, where South Korea have been drawn against Uruguay, Portugal and Ghana.

Speaking on the Match of the Day: Top Ten podcast, Richards said that Son is akin to Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar in his ability to make something out of nothing.

Richards on Son

He said: “I just think (Son) can make anything happen.

“When we talk about Phil Foden, he can make anything happen if he’s got movement around him.

“Whereas Neymar can make anything happen from anything, Son can make something happen from anywhere on the pitch.

“If he’s got a team which is quite defensive, on the counter attack, he’s perfect. It’s like Spurs play.

“I think he can cause some damage at this World Cup for sure.”

South Korea have been drawn in a tough group and Son will have to perform well to help them cause a shock and knock out either Uruguay or Portugal.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been attracting headlines ahead of the tournament, and who knows what impact that will have on the Euro 2016 winners’ preparations.

It has been a tough season for Son, and he will be hoping that he has saved some of his best form for the world stage, where he can show his quality against the best players on the planet.
