'He's one of us'; 'Time to really impress': Some Tottenham fans pleased by update on Harry Winks
After a lot of change this summer, one thing that remains is that Harry Winks is a Tottenham player.
Despite interest from both Aston Villa and Everton (Birmingham Mail), Harry Winks has stayed in London and is set to fight for his place.

The tidy 25-year-old midfielder has reportedly been handed a lifeline at Spurs having impressed Nuno Espirito Santo (The Sun).
For many Tottenham fans, this is clearly a good thing, especially seeing as the midfield man is a homegrown asset.
However, under Jose Mourinho, Winks struggled. The 2020/21 season saw his Premier League minutes fall to just over a third of what they were in the previous campaign (Transfermarkt).
It seems that under Nuno, Winks will now have more of a say this season and we saw what he can do last week as he impressed in a 3-0 win over Pacos de Ferreira.
Alasdair Gold of Football.London gave Winks an 8/10 in his player ratings for the game as he impressed alongside Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Kane in Europe.
Now it’s time for Winks to start applying his talents in the Premier League, should he get the chance.
It’s well documented that Winks is a boyhood Spurs fan and he’ll be desperate to add to his 176 appearances for the club that he’s racked up so far (Transfermarkt).
Things are looking up for Winks now, though. Despite late interest in Ruben Neves (The Express), Spurs failed to sign a new central midfielder for this season.
Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici secured the signing of Pape Matar Sarr (BBC), but as he returns to Metz on loan, Winks has this season to make himself a mainstay in the side before new competition arrives.

Good. Winksy is 100% Spurs. He’s one of us, and because of that we should cut him some slack. Yes he doesn’t pass forward as much as want, but he doesn’t deserve the crap he gets.— Sven524 (@sven524) August 31, 2021
If he is impressing N , then why not ? Same with Dele ! We are a team , if we bond and play well , brilliant— Noah Fencement (@NFencement) August 31, 2021

That is good news and a real credit to Winks for persisting with the hard work to get noticed, not just on the training pitch but in limited game time so far.— Spiggy (@SpiggyTope) August 31, 2021
He will do a job.
He’s not “so” scared— BrianGriffin (@C0YS_) August 31, 2021
He passed it forward

He a good squad player. Would have to be homegrown player to replace if he goes with our issues— Chris Callahan (@tennisdudz22) August 31, 2021
