‘He’s incredible’: Arsenal now reportedly want player more technically gifted than De Bruyne

Arsenal have reportedly rekindled their interest in Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Gunners appear to have lost out in the race to bring Lisandro Martinez to the Emirates Stadium.

Multiple reports have suggested he’ll be going to Manchester United instead of Arsenal this summer.

Therefore, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has apparently set his sights back on Zinchenko.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has claimed that the Gunners are now working on a deal for the 25-year-old.

The clubs are in contact over a potential transfer, he added.

And it is believed that City are open to sanctioning a sale if their valuation is met.

Apparently this hasn’t happened yet, and the report doesn’t provide a ballpark figure for Zinchenko.

Nonetheless, it looks as though Arsenal are heading in the right direction for the Ukraine international.

Arteta worked alongside Zinchenko at City and reportedly maintain a strong relationship.

The former FC Ufa ace can play both at left-back and in midfield.

These are two areas Arsenal are apparently still looking to bolster this summer.

“So, so good”

City teammate Kyle Walker, in a recent interview with YouTuber Timbsy, rated Zinchenko among the most technically gifted players at the Etihad.

He said: “Not in any order, because I wouldn’t want to put them in any order, my top three are Zinchenko, [Riyad] Mahrez and [Bernardo] Silva.”

On the Ukrainian, Walker added: “He’s incredible, incredible. Two touches, head tennis, he’s incredible. So good, so, so good.

“And then you’re leaving the likes of De Bruyne out, Phil Foden, Cancelo. But they don’t come close to those three.”

“Inspired by watching early-2000s Arsenal”

As per The Independent, Zinchenko grew up watching the vintage Arsenal team of the early 2000s.

‘Zinchenko’s love of playing was inspired by watching early-2000s Arsenal, with Thierry Henry his favourite player.’

And in 2014, Arsene Wenger reportedly tried to sign the player when he was at Shakhtar Donetsk.
