‘He’s having a laugh’: Liverpool fans react as Southgate leaves Trent Alexander-Arnold out of England squad

Liverpool fans have been giving their take on things today after Gareth Southgate confirmed Trent Alexander-Arnold will be missing from his latest England squad.

Southgate confirmed that the Liverpool right-back has simply been left out due to form. The likes if Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker and Reece James selected ahead of him.

It was a decision which respected Liverpool journalist and Athletic writer, James Pearce, called ‘ridiculous’ via his Twitter account.

And while some Liverpool fans agreed that ‘Trent’ perhaps should have been involved, there were also plenty of Liverpool fans who saw the reasoning behind Southgate’s decision. Further, there was also a number of Reds fans who were happy to avoid another player being injured.

Alexander-Arnold will be back in the fold eventually. Southgate acknowledged as much. But for now, some Liverpool fans don’t seem overly impressed with the England manager’s call.
