Troy Deeney says £27m Arsenal player has got so much ‘aura’ about him right now

Arsenal came away from Man City with a draw yesterday and Troy Deeney believes they’ve got a player in their ranks who is just oozing class right now.

Arsenal were unlucky not to take all three points as a desperate late goal from John Stones ensured a point for Pep Guardiola’s men in a heated game at The Etihad.

For the Gunners, it was a point gained in one sense but two dropped in another.

However, there were some huge positives for Mikel Arteta and his team. Despite the obvious negative being the debatable red card for Leandro Trossard, Arsenal’s key men once again proved themselves.

And none more so than Brazilian defender, Gabriel Magalhaes.

Indeed, Gabriel was so good, that Troy Deeney has picked him in his latest team of the week and claimed the £27m man is now walking around with a serious ‘aura’.

Gabriel Magalhaes told he has an ‘aura’ when it comes to set-pieces for Arsenal

Picking his latest team of the week for the BBC, Deeney included a couple of Arsenal stars and in selecting Gabriel, he believes Arsenal have one of the best in the league right now.

“Gabriel is getting a lot of attention and rightly so,” Deeney said.

“He’s got this aura now when it comes to set-pieces. Every team he faces must think he’s going to score. You saw Manchester City put two on him and couldn’t stop him.

“Defensively he was at his best, Arsenal just couldn’t get over the line.”

Gabriel is one of the best around

Obviously, Gabriel is helped by his brilliant partner at the back, William Saliba.

However, there is no denying that even on his own he is a quite magnificent centre-back and his goals record from set-pieces is great.

Gabriel has now scored 16 goals in the Premier League for Arsenal since signing and he’s well on his way to being one of the top defenders in terms of goals.

Arsenal are really onto something with this current central defensive pairing and despite the late leveller, they’ll feel they’ve left one on City yesterday.
