'He's got that technique in his locker': Leeds United ace in awe of £700,000 man

Leeds United ace Jack Harrison has praised Luke Ayling for his impressive opener in the Whites’ Championship victory last weekend, in conversation with the Leeds media team.

Marcelo Bielsa’s charges hosted Huddersfield at Elland Road on Saturday and ran out 2-0 winners, with Ayling netting his third goal in five games early on in the encounter.

Harrison’s pinpoint delivery from the left was emphatically met by Ayling on the volley, the ball crashing off the underside of the bar and into the back of the net as early as the third minute.

Patrick Bamford then made sure of all three points with a poacher’s finish early in the second half for a fifth consecutive win – and clean sheet – for Leeds.

“It was a great finish from Luke Ayling, it was ironic as he did the same thing in training on the Friday,” Harrison told the Leeds website. “He’s got that technique in his locker and he brought it out, so it’s always good to see goals like that.

“It’s nice to get that second goal especially at the time we did and we managed the game well, which we have improved on this season.”

Three goals in his last five games, and a tally of four goals and four assists this season, Ayling is certainly doing his bit to try and get Leeds over the line in their quest for promotion.

Given the £700,000 signing (Bristol Post) scored a similar goal in training the day before shows that it was no fluke, and that practice makes perfect.

With nine games to go and a seven-point gap to third place, Leeds have rebuilt the cushion they had lost during their downturn in form earlier this year, and things are looking really good for everyone linked with the Elland Road club.
