Reported Arsenal target Thomas Partey has received huge praise from teammate Kieran Trippier, in conversation with the Beautiful Game podcast.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder has been linked with Arsenal for a number of months and, according to Mundo Deportivo, is a priority target for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Speculation linking Partey to the Emirates Stadium gathered pace in April when his father told Tru FM’s Sports World Show – as transcribed by Football London – that both parties had been in contact about a possible switch to London.

Guillem Balague recently claimed on his official YouTube channel that Atletico want Partey to sign a new deal to remove his estimated £45million release clause – but the player is seemingly refusing to sign.

And according to Madrid-based publication La Razon, it is an “open secret” that the Ghana international will leave the Wanda Metropolitano in the summer.

“I’d seen him play for Atletico but I didn’t realise how good he is,” stated the Atletico right-back when speaking on The Beautiful Game podcast. “He’s unbelievable, his physicality, how he breaks up play. Technically he’s got everything.

“He ranks as one of the best midfielders I’ve played with, but Mousa [Dembele] is Mousa and he’s on a different planet that guy. Even in training he was in cruise control. Thomas is still a very young player and everyone loves him out here.

“Going to the Premier League who knows? Obviously I want him to stay here because he’s a valuable member to our team. He speaks perfect English, very good English. I don’t think he’d have a problem with the Premier League.”

Partey is a player of the highest calibre, a key member of the Atletico side which knocked current Champions League holders Liverpool out of the competition at the last 16 stage.

A no-nonsense defensive midfielder, the £65,000-a-week star’s reputation is growing across European football, with plaudits continuing to come his way, and he’s shown he can impress on the elite stage.

Partey usually sits in a deeper midfield role in front of the back four and is an expert at breaking up play with his aggressive tackling and reading of the game, something Arsenal really could do with.
