Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Athletic revealed the finer details of Aaron Ramsdale’s £30m move to the Emirates Stadium.

What’s the story?

Well, The Athletic believe Edu gave up on signing Ramsdale after Sheffield United refused to lower their asking price.

Edu turned to yet another Kia Joorabchian client in Barcelona glovesman Neto, although Mikel Arteta wasn’t interested in that.

It is said that the Spaniard pushed hard to bring Ramsdale to north London, despite Edu and his team continuing to push for the Brazilian shot-stopper.

Eventually, Arteta got his way.

It was the 39-year-old’s persistence and belief in Ramsdale’s quality which helped get the 23-year-old to north London.

In our view, it’s good to see that the manager got his way, as that’s how it should be.

The moment a manager is given players he doesn’t want, it sets a dangerous precedent.

Specifically, it’s great to see Arteta refuse another of Joorabchian’s clients, as they have been truly awful for the Gunners – Cedric and Willian are in his portfolio of footballers, for example.

The agent himself has also spoken badly about Arsenal before, so why should they continue to put money in his pockets?

It’s also somewhat worrying to see Edu give up so quickly, instead of continuing to negotiate – after all, isn’t that his job?
