Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara has suggested that Spurs should make a move to sign Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

Speaking on TalkSport after last night’s 3-2 loss to the Saints, the pundit lauded the England international and Premier League captain, with O’Hara saying ‘he’s fantastic’ as the 27-year-old controlled the tempo for Southampton in north London.

It was only Antonio Conte’s second Premier League defeat as Spurs manager, yet after spending big on deadline day to sign Juventus pair Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, it is evident that Tottenham need a major overhaul in almost every position.

And midfield is just one problem area for the north London side even with the newly signed Bentancur and talented prospect Oliver Skipp in the squad, with supporters growing frustrated over Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, another player who has captained Southampton.

Indeed, Ward-Prowse has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League outside the top-six for some time, and O’Hara voiced his support of Tottenham making a move for the Saints playmaker as per TalkSport.

Moreover, a move isn’t outside the realm of possibility, with Daniel Levy likely to heavily back Conte in the summer as the Italian aims to launch Tottenham back into the top-four race ahead of next season.

Ward-Prowse could bring technical quality to Tottenham’s midfield

The upcoming summer transfer window could be the one where Ward-Prowse finally makes the move away from Southampton, and for Tottenham, the midfielder would bring some much-needed technical quality to the club as well as walk straight into Spurs’ XI for next season.

The England international proved last night how devastating he can be from midfield and set-pieces, and for Spurs, a player of Ward-Prowse’s quality will be a huge boost for Conte’s plans for the north London club.
