Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Mohamed Elneny has picked up a hamstring injury.
The Gunners boss made the admission after the 1-1 draw away at PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.
Elneny made his first Arsenal start of the season in the Tuesday evening fixture, and delivered a solid performance.
However, in the 62nd minute, the 31-year-old had to come off after appearing to have tweaked his hamstring. Martin Odegaard took his place.
After the game, the Arsenal media team asked Arteta whether Elneny had indeed suffered an injury to his hamstring.
The Gunners boss confirmed that was the case, although he wasn’t able to elaborate on the severity of the issue.
“Yeah,” said Arteta. “We don’t know the extent of it but he’s done something.”

Let’s hope that Elneny’s hamstring issue isn’t a serious one and that he won’t be out for long.
The Egypt international has been an important member of Arteta’s squad over the years.
He has brought the right attitude to the dressing room and has done well when called upon.
However, Elneny has sadly suffered from injuries as well in recent years.
He missed most of last season due to thigh problems and a knee injury, and only returned to action in September this year.
We’ll find out more in the coming days as Arsenal assess the extent of the injury. For the time being, let’s just hope it’s not serious.
Arsenal secure draw in final Champions League group clash
Arsenal and PSV had already secured first and second place respectively in their Champions League group.
Therefore, the Gunners – as well as their opponents – took the opportunity to make numerous changes to their respective starting XIs.
Arsenal took the lead in the 42nd minute through Eddie Nketiah, who clinically fired into the far corner from inside the box.
However, the hosts equalised early in the second half when Yorbe Vertessen bent a neat shot in off the post after good work from Malik Tillman.
Arsenal are next in action on Sunday, when they host Brighton at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.
