‘He’s done at Arsenal’: Kevin Campbell rips into Nicolas Pepe

Arsenal icon Kevin Campbell has criticised Gunners winger Nicolas Pepe, claiming he’s “done” at the Emirates.

Pepe joined Arsenal in 2019 for a club-record £72million fee and arrived from Lille to much fanfare.

The 26-year-old penned a five-year deal at Arsenal reportedly worth £140,000-a-week.

However, Pepe’s time at the Emirates hasn’t been plain sailing, to put it mildly.

There have certainly been moments of brilliance and great individual performances.

However, Pepe has lacked consistency for the most part.

And this season, it looks as though the Ivory Coast international has fallen out of favour under Mikel Arteta.

Pepe has only played for seven minutes over the past seven Premier League games.

Indeed, he hasn’t even got off the bench for the last five games.

And in Monday’s defeat to Everton, Arteta picked Eddie Nketiah over Pepe.

Campbell, speaking to Highbury Squad earlier this week, made his feelings clear on the matter.

Host Sophie Nicolau asked him whether he’d bring Nketiah on over Aubameyang or Pepe to try and get a late goal.

“Aubameyang is not the same player right now,” replied Campbell.

“His confidence is ultra low, that’s probably why he brought him on.

“Pepe, to me, is done. If he can’t even get on the pitch (on Monday night), he’s done at Arsenal.”

Worrying times for Pepe, and it remains to be seen what Edu and Arteta decide for him in January.
