According to The Daily Mail, Aston Villa are in the hunt for James Tavernier. The Rangers right-back is a target for Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion this summer.

Aston Villa released Alan Hutton and Ritchie De Laet after winning promotion, leaving a vacancy at right-back. Tavernier could fill that role.

The 27-year-old scored a stunning total of 17 goals, while also providing 20 assists, from right-back at Rangers this season.

Tavernier is the captain of Rangers and he led Steven Gerrard’s men to second in the Scottish Premiership. But now he could be heading back to England.

The former Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic man has been with Rangers since 2015, racking up a tally of nearly 200 appearances for the Scottish heavyweights.

But the lure of Premier League football with Aston Villa could tempt Tavernier back down south. He has options on the table ahead of the summer transfer window.
