Newcastle haven’t been at their best lately.
The Magpies’ squad has been decimated by injuries, and the players who are left standing are out on their feet.
Indeed, Newcastle looked exhausted against Tottenham on Sunday, and speaking on BBC 606, Robbie Savage shared his verdict on one player’s performance in particular.
Savage singled out Kieran Trippier for criticism, claiming that while he is a fantastic player, he has been truly poor in his last two appearances.

Trippier has been poor
Savage shared his verdict on the right-back.
“Watching Newcastle Tottenham, watching Newcastle. Kieran Trippier, a fantastic player, set-piece delivey, his delivery in general, what a player, but the last two games,” Sutton said.
“He looks shattered doesn’t he?” Sutton said.
“He’s been poor, hasn’t he? He’s been very very poor, I’m not just blaming Kieran Trippier,” Savage said.
Not good enough
As much as we hate to single out an individual in a time of team crisis, it has to be said that Trippier hasn’t been good enough in his last two games.
To be fair, with the amount of work he’s had to get through and the ongoing injury crisis at Newcastle, it’s really hard to blame him, but, at the same time, improvement is needed.
Trippier will get a rest this weekend against Fulham as he’s suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Spurs, and we can only hope that this break from action will allow the full- back to recuperate and return to something close to his best form.
Newcastle are at their best when Trippier is playing well, but, sadly, we’ve not seen Trippier playing in that sort of way for a little while now.
Fingers crossed Trippier can rediscover his mojo for the Milan game and help Newcastel progress in the Champions League.
