‘He’s been poor’… Pundit says £35m Arsenal player has been absolutely terrible recently

Arsenal are off the boil at the moment.

There’s no nice way to butter it up, standards have slipped at the Emirates.

The Gunners don’t appear to be working hard enough right now, and a number of their key players aren’t performing as they once were.

Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus aren’t scoring at the same rate they were last season, and speaking on Off The Ball, Keith Treacy has outlined another player he thinks hasn’t been up to scratch as of late.

Indeed, the pundit says that Oleksandr Zinchenko has been poor recently.

Zinchenko has been poor

Treacy shared his verdict on the £35m defender.

“We have a lot of young players, we need a goalscorer, Gabriel Jesus is a fabulous player, I’d always have him in the team, Gabriel Martinelli has come off the boil, Saka has been brilliant, we probably need a better right-back, a centre-half as well and maybe a midfielder for cover, Zinchenko as well, he’s been poor the last few weeks, he’s really come off the boil,” Treacy said.

Problem position

Treacy is right, Zinchenko hasn’t been at his best as of late, but at the same time, nobody who has occupied that left-back role for Arsenal recently has.

Indeed, Jakub Kiwior and Takehiro Tomiyasu both really struggled against Fulham at the weekend in the absence of Zinchenko, and it may just be that this inverted full-back system is starting to be figured out by Arsenal’s rivals.

Zinchenko is still a very talented player, and when he’s at his best, he’s vital to this Arsenal team, but, unfortunately, the Ukrainian hasn’t been playing all that well lately.

Let’s hope that Arsenal can find a way to get Zinchenko back playing his best football when he’s back from injury, because this slump can’t go on for much longer.

Arsenal do need to find a way to start picking up results again if they’re going to win the league.
