'He's been exceptional': Harry Kane blown away by Tottenham-linked player's displays at Euro 2020
Harry Kane has been very impressed by Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling amid links with Tottenham Hotspur, as per his comments to TalkSPORT.
It has been claimed by the Athletic that Spurs have been offered the chance to sign Sterling by City this summer.
City are apparently prepared to hand Sterling to Spurs in an exchange for Kane, as they look to knock some money off the deal.
Sterling has been one of England’s star players at Euro 2020 so far, where he has scored three goals.
The City winger actually set up Kane’s opener against the Ukraine in the quarter-final.
And the Tottenham striker admits that he has been seriously impressed by the way Sterling has played at the tournament to date.
“People underestimate Raheem as a person and as a leader, and one of the focal players in this team,” Kane said.
“He’s had great experience from a young age, he’s had great experience at this level – club and country and it’s great to see him scoring goals.
“He’s been exceptional at this tournament and is a big part of our success.”
Spurs and Sterling
Tottenham almost certainly would love to have Sterling in their squad.
However, his expensive wages are an issue, as is the idea of letting go of Kane.
If Tottenham were to sign Sterling, they would likely want to add him to their group with Kane, rather than at the expense of their top scorer.
City are expected to push hard for the Spurs front man after Euro 2020 finishes at the weekend, but widespread reports suggest that Daniel Levy will be playing herd ball with any side who wants to sign his side’s star player.
