Despite Celtic’s run of recent poor form, there are still players who have been playing out of their skin this season. Which begs the question. Come the end of the season, who will be crowned the Player of the Year?

Liam Scales has probably been the story of the year so far. After looking like he was on his way out of Celtic, the 25-year-old is now a mainstay in Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Luis Palma is another who has done well in the first half of the season although his form seems to have dipped.

And what about Paulo Bernardo? The Portuguese had a slow start to his Celtic career but has quickly become an established member of Brendan Rodgers’ side.

However, there is only one man that should be in contention. Out of all the players in the Scottish Premiership, former Rangers striker, Lee McCulloch is in no doubt which Celtic player must win the prestigious award.

McCulloch said [PLZ Soccer], “It’s got to be O’Riley. At this moment in time, it’s got to be O’Riley. Is O’Riley double figures in goals?

“It’s got to be O’Riley. He’s been brilliant this season.”

Matt O’Riley has been incredible for Celtic

The 23-year-old midfielder seems to have gone from strength to strength ever since Brendan Rodgers came to Celtic.

Adding goals to his game, O’Riley has become one of Celtic’s most potent attacking threats. In fact, the Danish international is the Parkhead club’s top scorer this season.

His performances for Celtic in the Champions League have made clubs across Europe sit up and take notice and it is little wonder he is tipped to make Celtic a lot of money when the time comes to sell him.

O’Riley will be up there for the Player of the Year Award, of that, I have no doubt. But the Celtic fans want right now from their midfield star is to keep putting in great performances so that the league title will be brought home at the end of the season.
