‘He’s been a revelation’: Jamie Carragher wowed by £140k-a-week Spurs player

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has been praised by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher as the Spurs ace made it into the Kings of the Premier League monthly XI.

Spurs signed Son from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 for a £22million fee, which has proven a bargain given his heroics for the North Londoners over the past five years.

The South Korea international has registered 90 goals and 49 assists from 234 competitive Tottenham appearances.

This season, the 28-year-old has notched up five goals and two assists from five games in all competitions, including four goals in three Premier League games.

Given Son’s displays and tally in the early stages of the campaign, Kings of the Premier League guest Nicole Holliday nominated the Spurs ace as one of the wide forwards.

“He’s a brilliant player,” said the influencer and Arsenal fan.

“And now he’s injured, that’s another reason why he should make the team this month, we don’t know when he will be back! Four goals so far, he brings so much and so versatile.”

Carragher replied: “Yes, he’s been a revelation since arriving from the German league. At first, you asked where he fits, because Spurs had many attacking talents and now he’s made himself one of the first names on the team sheet.

“Kane gets injuries, as we know, and Son can play centre forward and still provide that pace and goal threat as well. Those two, joined by Gareth Bale, as the season goes on, I think gives them a great chance of making the top four.”

When Son and Harry Kane were both sidelined earlier this year, Tottenham were left in a precarious position and their season was at risk of falling apart completely, though in the end, Spurs managed to clinch European qualification.

The South Korea ace is sadly out injured again, but in more positive news, Jose Mourinho expects the £140,000-a-week ace to return following the international break, so hopefully it won’t be long before we see a front line of Son, Kane and Gareth Bale.
