West Ham United star Declan Rice has been praised by Glenn Hoddle, who believes the Hammers man should be an England starter.

Rice is one of the most highly rated midfielders in the Premier League, with 142 West Ham appearances under his belt at just 22 years of age.

He has also captained West Ham in many of their league games this season, while at international level, he has won 15 caps.

Hoddle, speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, gave his thoughts on Rice ahead of the European Championships this summer.

“He’d be in the spine of my team,” said the England legend. “I mean, fingers crossed he’s going to be fit and he’s going to be okay.

“He’d be in the spine without a doubt for me he would play every game and he’s become that important, he really has.”

Rice has made 31 appearances for West Ham this season but recently missed six league games with a knee injury, coming back in the 1-1 draw with Brighton.

Rice continues to make waves at West Ham and has also shown he’s got what it takes to star for England.

That a legend like Hoddle would speak so highly of him and really hope he’s fit for the Euros is testament to the midfielder’s quality.
