Leeds United’s academy is one of the best in the country.

The Whites have produced some fantastic talents in recent years such as Jack Clarke, Kalvin Phillips and Archie Gray, and there’s another exciting crop just coming through.

Indeed, there’s plenty to be excited about at Leeds in terms of youth development, and one player who could be a future star is Mateo Joseph.

The young striker has recently signed a new contract with the club, and with an FA Cup game coming up this weekend, he could get a first-team shot.

Speaking on The Square Ball Podcast, Phil Hay has been discussing how much Joseph is rated internally.

According to the journalist, those within Leeds think a lot of Joseph, and they rate him very highly.

Hay shared what he knows about the youngster.

“The one you would like to see get a bit more of a push is Joseph I think up front to see a bit more of him. He can be quite versatile and they think a lot of him and a lot of people think a lot of him, they think he’s a good player,” Hay said.

Exciting

This is very exciting to hear.

Leeds have, quietly, built an incredibly talented young attacking unit.

Indeed, between Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto, Leeds have three incredible young attackers already making a first-team impact, and that’s before we even think about Joseph and the potential he possesses.

Leeds’ academy can develop some truly fantastic talents, and Joseph may well be the next star to come through Elland Road.

This young man could make a first-team impact very soon, and perhaps he could even get a shot to play in the cup this weekend against Plymouth.
