Leeds United newcomer Junior Firpo is one of Danny Murphy’s 10 players to watch this Premier League season.

The Whites signed the talented left-back in July from Barcelona for a reported £13million.

Firpo joined Leeds United as a replacement for Ezgjan Alioski, who left on a free transfer in the summer.

He takes the number 3 shirt which Barry Douglas vacated after he also left Elland Road at the end of 2020-21.

Firpo has spent the last two seasons at Camp Nou, with 41 appearances taken in for the Liga giants.

Leeds United newcomer will get fans “off the edge of their seats”

Murphy reckons the former Spain Under-21 international will thrill the Elland Road faithful.

“Signed from Barcelona to replace left-back Ezgjan Alioski, he’s got the energy and showmanship to shine in a Marcelo Bielsa team,” Murphy wrote in the Daily Mail.

“Firpo loves bombing forward and does these little tricks and skills that will endear himself to the Elland Road crowd.

“He’s very Leeds; always likes to play on the front foot and his challenge will be coping with the defensive side over the course of the season.

“I’d almost describe him as eccentric in that he’s a flying machine who likes to show off what he’s got. But there is definite pedigree in there.

“Barcelona paid Betis £27million for him a few years ago and the only reason he didn’t establish himself at the Nou Camp was because he had to compete with Jordi Alba.

“He can also slot in at centre-back if necessary but it’ll be his runs up the left touchline which will get fans off the edge of their seats.”

Leeds get their Premier League season under way on Saturday at Manchester United.
