Herve Koffi is the realistic goalkeeper target Leeds United should target

Leeds United are in something of a goalkeeping jam at present. Jamal Blackman broke his leg over the weekend, leaving them short of a back-up to youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell. His form has been questionable itself recently and Leeds will have untested duo Will Huffer and Kamil Miazek in support until January.

The West Yorkshire side will then have to bring in another stopper. Some big names have been mentioned as potential options. One such player is Tom Heaton of Burnley.

But in terms of realistic options for Leeds the Lille stopper, Herve Koffi, would seem more likely.

The Burkina Faso international was Lille’s second-choice goalie whilst Marcelo Bielsa was at the club.

Nowadays, the 22-cap international cannot fight his way into the Lille matchday squad.

Koffi would be an affordable option, is known to Bielsa and is likely to want the move considering his current lack of matchday action. Any work permit issues would surely not be an issue either. Koffi is the regular number one stopper for his nation who have consistently been in FIFA’s top 50 for the past two years.

A swoop on the French side could certainly be a shrewd stop-gap move before Leeds can reconsider the goalkeeper position effectively in the summer.
