Arsenal may now fancy their chances of swooping in for Ricardo Rodriguez, after AC Milan confirmed the signing of Theo Hernandez on a five-year deal.
The Rossoneri have snapped up the French defender for a fee of €20 million/£18 million (Goal), after the Spanish giants recently signed Ferland Mendy.
With Marcelo still in the picture at the Bernabeu, regular minutes would have been hard to come by for the 21-year-old.
According to Goal, Hernandez has been signed as a replacement for Ricardo Rodriguez.
Goal Italy have claimed Milan have already tried to offer Rodriguez or Franck Kessie in exchange for Lucas Torreira, knowing that the Gunners were interested in the player last summer.
Hernandez’s move to San Siro certainly opens the door for the Gunners.
It would seem that they are trying to wrap up a deal for Celtic star Kieran Tierney, but if the Hoops dig their heels in then there might well now be an opportunity to get Rodriguez.
The 26-year-old is a solid full-back known for his crossing ability and effectiveness in the final third.
His attacking instincts would make him suitable to play as either a full-back or wing-back.
Sport have claimed he could be available for just €15 million/£13.4 million, which is definitely something that should appeal to Unai Emery if true.
