Everton face a battle to keep young attacker Henry Onyekuru at the club amid links with a summer exit. According to TEAMtalk, a host of European clubs are interested in signing Onyekuru for £20m.
Onyekuru is currently on loan at Galatasaray and the Turkish heavyweights are eager to make his deal permanent. But they face competition from French champions PSG, Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, Serie A’s Napoli and La Liga outfit Napoli.
With interest from all over Europe, it is clear just how talented the Nigeria international is. He has the potential to become a top forward, operating in a wide position or as a centre-forward.
But his performance yesterday should have convinced Everton that they simply must resist the urge to sell him this summer. Onyekuru could be their answer up front.
In Galatasaray’s clash with Antalyaspor, Onyekuru netted a brace to fire his side to a 5-0 win. It was the 21-year-old’s 11th goal of the season in just 23 Super Lig matches.
Onyekuru has never played for Everton as there were work permit issues surrounding his transfer to Goodison Park. But he could be the future for the Toffees, especially as there is a vacancy for a natural goal scorer in Marco Silva’s team.
Despite the temptation of cashing in and getting £20m, Onyekuru’s brace should remind Everton why they must keep the faith in him.
