Jordan Henderson and Jurgen Klopp endured a heated exchange when the Liverpool captain was substituted at Old Trafford against Manchester United yesterday, as reported by the Independent.
They report that Klopp was unhappy that his captain didn’t shake his hand when he took him off during yesterday’s tepid 0-0 encounter which took Liverpool one point clear at the top of the Premier League.
Henderson took exception to the decision and didn’t make much of an effort to hide it on the touchline, although of course it wasn’t the most high-profile dispute between a player and a manager yesterday.
That may have helped Henderson’s cause – and it seemed an issue that was easily resolved – but it’s not what Klopp will want from his skipper going into the run-in.

There is no suggestion that the issue will last beyond the seconds it took to be resolved on the touchline – and Klopp also won’t want players who are happy to be substituted – but it’s not a good look for the England international.
As the pressure ramps up, Liverpool must keep their heads and stay united and Henderson did neither in the brief moments when he lost his head about being replaced.
On another weekend, it may have attracted more column inches but Liverpool should remain thankful for that and try and ensure there are no repeats in the months ahead.
