A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to congratulate Lamare Bogarde after he penned his first professional contract at Villa Park.

The 17-year-old was a member of the youngest side in the club’s history as a Villa outfit missing its first-team regulars and boss Dean Smith took on Liverpool in the FA Cup third round on Friday.

Bogarde more than held his own against Jordan Henderson and Curtis Jones, sticking well to his task and, along with the rest of his teammates, did the club proud.

The young midfielder joined Villa from Feyenoord last summer and has been doing so well that he has already been fast-tracked from the Under-18s to the Under-23s.

And now, the Villans have confirmed that Bogarde has committed his future to the Premier League club.

Academy manager Mark Harrison said: “Lamare joined us in the summer and since then we have been pleased with his development, which has seen him play a number of times for our Under-23s at the age of 16.

“He has now settled into a central midfield role and acquitted himself very well.”

Bogarde has a big future ahead and, as such, Villa fans were delighted with the news and took to social media to congratulate both club and player:
