'He'd fit perfectly', 'A priority': Some Spurs fans want Conte to sign attacker after Champions League display
A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Christopher Nkunku after his stunning run in the Champions League continued on Wednesday as RB Leipzig thrashed Club Brugge.
The Bundesliga side have given themselves a chance of securing the Europa League spot after winning 5-0 in Belgium.
The result leaves them third, level on points with their latest opponents. And Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain lie ahead for the two sides in the final game.
The game saw Leipzig secure an important win. But it also saw Nkunku move some distance clear at the top of the goalscoring charts in Group A.
The Frenchman has made a stunning start to the season. He went into the latest game having scored 10 goals across the Champions League and Bundesliga.
To put that into context, he managed seven across both competitions during the entirety of last season.
He went on to add two more goals to his total on Wednesday. The 24-year-old also contributed an assist – though that came from a simple pass to Emil Forsberg, who went to unleash a superb drive from distance.
Nkunku had given the visitors the lead from close range inside 12 minutes. He reacted fastest after Simon Mignolet’s save with his feet flew across the six-yard box.

And the forward went on to round off the scoring in stoppage-time, finding the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
It was maybe not the brace that will end up on Nkunku’s highlight reel. Certainly, to award him an assist seems somewhat generous when you see the pass that came before Forsberg’s goal.
But it does highlight just how influential and impressive he has been this season. He also managed four key passes in the win, according to Whoscored. No player on either side could better that tally.
Nkunku has scored in four of the five Champions League games Leipzig have contested. Of course, the highlight came when he bagged a hat-trick at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City in the opening game.
And with that, plenty of Tottenham fans have implored Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte to look at the versatile attacker.
Spurs have shown plenty of ambition in the market since Paratici arrived. And obviously, they made a huge statement by bringing Conte in to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after parting company with Nuno Espirito Santo.
‘Would take him in a heartbeat’
It does appear that Tottenham need further quality in the final third. They could particularly do with someone who creates from the middle.
Nkunku is proving to be one of the most prolific players in Europe this term. In 18 games, he has 12 goals and four assists.
He can play anywhere in the final third, including up front. So he would potentially add cover for Harry Kane if he made a move to North London.
But there is no doubt that he is one of the most in-form players in the world right now. And having made such an exciting managerial appointment recently, it seems more than likely that a few big signings are on their way to Tottenham.
Clearly, plenty of Spurs fans hope that Nkunku is one of those through the door…
