Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin captained the club during Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw against and netted a dramatic late equaliser.
According to the Telegraph, he was full of praise for his fellow goalscorer on the night, teenage striker Gabriel Martinelli, over his work rate and professionalism.
He said: “A lot of people talk about his talent, but what people don’t see is that Gabi is a professional. He turns up early every day. He does all the stuff and everything anyone asks him to do.
“He is the first player to press and the last player to leave everything on the pitch. The goals are just a plus. He helps us in every single way and the thing that everyone needs to praise him for his attitude. That is what makes him a player.
“If he keeps his head where it is right now, he is going to go really far.”
TBR’s View – Is Martinelli the best thing about Arsenal’s season?
Ultimately, the delay in sacking Unai Emery and then the further dallying in replacing Freddie Ljungberg has robbed Arsenal’s season of any great meaning.
Mikel Arteta is making his own changes but progress will be slow. There hasn’t been a lot for Arsenal fans to get excited about.
But Martinelli is definitely one of them and there is a case to be made that he has been the brightest spot of their season.
Still a teenager, he has the quality to score goals in the Premier League and the physicality and professionalism to deal with the intensity Arteta demands.
