Footage has emerged on social media of Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal embracing before Villarreal took on Real Sociedad on Monday night – and Arsenal star Hector Bellerin has responded on Twitter.
Cazorla, 35 and Monreal, 34, went toe to toe on Monday night as the two Spanish stars reunited following their Arsenal days in a La Liga clash that saw Cazorla score – but Sociedad pick up all three points.
The duo clocked up a combined 431 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, and both continue to prove that age is just a number. Cazorla especially, who has clocked up a whopping 15 goals and 10 assists this term.
Cazorla admitted in an interview with Goal in January that he would love to play for Arsenal again, with his contract due to expire this summer. Monreal, meanwhile, has a contract at Sociedad until the summer of 2021.
Guillem Balague recently claimed on YouTube: “Arteta will ask Cazorla to be a member of the coaching staff at some point,” and Bellerin has stated that he misses both players at Arsenal in response to the video.

TBR’s view – Cazorla comeback?
Yes, Arteta may request Cazorla to return as a member of the coaching staff but the current Gunners boss would be foolish not to at least consider the playmaker as a player coach – given his La Liga form this season.
Despite being 35, Cazorla has been a shining light of the Spanish league – having a hand in 25 goals for a side that are pushing for European qualification in fifth. If Arteta can get Cazorla to play for Arsenal again, he should.
