Arsenal need a bit more firepower in their frontline.
Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka aren’t scoring at the same rate they were last season, and there’s been plenty of chat about Arsenal signing a new number nine soon.
Speaking on The Rest is Football, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer have been discussing the idea of Ivan Toney joining the Gunners after strong links.
Both Richards and Shearer agreed that Toney could be just what the doctor ordered at Arsenal as the north London club pivot to a more cross-oriented style of play.

Toney perfect for Arsenal
Shearer and Richards shared their verdicts on this hypothetical transfer for the £60m man.
“Yeah I do with who they have got on either side down the flanks, I think he would have a field day with crosses coming into the box. He would love that,” Shearer said.
“I agree with that. It’s a different Arsenal, if you look at the way they play with Martinelli and Saka on the wings, they used to have so much space. But because they are the danger men now. They are almost doubling up on them, whereas before Saka was taking on one or two, they have become more of a crossing team trying to get out of tight areas and to have someone like Toney, with his physical power and heading ability I think he suits Arsenal now, I really do,” Richards said.
Great move
This could be a fantastic move for Arsenal.
The Gunners already have one of the best defences in the Premier League, and now, they just need someone to spearhead their attack and be a reliable source of goals.
Toney can be that man. He hit 20 league goals last season in a Brentford side that doesn’t create half as much as Arsenal do.
This won’t be a easy deal to do, but it may be wise of Arsenal to get working on this one sooner rather than later.
