‘He would jump at that chance’: Tim Sherwood says 44-year-old manager would absolutely take the Man Utd job

There’s been plenty of talk about a managerial change at Manchester United in the coming weeks.

Erik ten Hag is coming under more and more pressure, and with a very tough game against Liverpool coming up this weekend, the Dutchman’s days at Old Trafford could be numbered.

The Red Devils may soon be looking for a new gaffer, and according to Tim Sherwood, speaking on Premier League Productions, Roberto De Zerbi is the man for the job.

Sherwood says that De Zerbi is a top-drawer manager who should be at Old Trafford, claiming that he’d actually jump at the chance to replace Ten Hag.

De Zerbi would jump at United job

Sherwood shared his verdict on the Italian.

“I think this is a very dangerous fixture for Arsenal. I love De Zerbi, I think he’s a top-drawer manager, I think he should be at Man United in my opinion, he’s that good. I think he would jump at that chance as well, he really would. He has a playing identity that they’re really crying out for at Man United,” Sherwood said.

Risky

We absolutely love De Zerbi as a manager, but this would be risky from both parties.

De Zerbi has never managed a club of this level before, so United would be taking a huge punt in hiring the Brighton boss, especially after his predecessor, Graham Potter, crashed and burned at Chelsea.

Meanwhile, this would also be a risk for De Zerbi, the Italian is very much a manager on the up, and Old Trafford is a stadium where managers are so often chewed up and spat out.

If De Zerbi is patient, a better opportunity should present itself, while United could probably do with a manager who has more experience managing big names and big egos.
