'He will go to the top': Tanganga names 'phenomenal' Spurs talent who has 'surprised' everyone

Japhet Tanganga has signalled our teenage striker Dane Scarlett as Tottenham begin pre-season training ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

In an interview with Football London, the Spurs defender waxed lyrical about the 17-year-old striker. Scarlett is one of Tottenham’s most promising talents, with the youngster making his first-team debut last season for the club.

Scarlett featured in both the Premier League and UEFA Europa League for the north London side last campaign. And the attacker will likely feature more for the club under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

And for Tanganga, Scarlett has impressed everyone in training this week. With the Tottenham defender predicting big things for the teenage attacker.

Could Centre-Forwards Become Extinct?

The Spurs academy graduate said about: “He’s a great prospect, honestly. I think he’s not the only one but for his age, everyone’s a bit surprised at how talented he is.

“Honestly, he is phenomenal and everything that the old gaffer said is true.

“If everything goes well and he keeps working hard and remains focused and grounded then he will go to the top, because he’s a phenomenal player and I think all the players around him know that and are going to try to help him.”

With Spurs yet to sign a new striker this summer and rumours suggesting Nuno will play with a two-striker formation, Scarlett could be in line for a breakout season with regular first-team minutes likely next season.

Furthermore, Nuno is often keen to promote youth players and to hand youngsters a chance, unlike Jose Mourinho. Indeed, Scarlett will likely have the time to find his footing in the first team and to develop his game as he makes the transition into the senior game.
