Alan Shearer has sung the praises of Crystal Palace winger, Wilfried Zaha, following another exceptional performance from the former Man United man.
Zaha is in the form of his life this term and destroyed a frail West Brom defence this weekend as Palace stuck five past the Baggies.
Many are expecting Zaha to be of high interest to clubs in January again. He stayed put in the summer, despite reported interest from Arsenal, who have long admired the winger.
Furthermore, just this week, former Gunner, David Seaman, stated that Zaha would be a fine capture for his former team should they decide to make a move.
And Shearer, selecting his regular team of the week for the official Premier League website, was full of praise for Zaha.
“He was everywhere, forcing an own goal from the right wing, scoring brilliantly from the left and netting another in the middle.”
It’s not the first time Shearer has selected Zaha, either. And in more glory for Palace, the former England skipper also selected Christian Benteke, who looked a reborn figure at The Hawthorns.
Have Arsenal missed the boat? If they have, it’s Palace’s gain – TBR View
The rumours around Zaha and Arsenal seem to have been around for more than just the one window. Zaha is an open Arsenal fan, too, so the links naturally continue.
However, you can’t help but think the Gunners have missed the boat here. Zaha is in the form of his life while across London, the Gunners struggle to even score and create goals.
If Mikel Arteta is going to make a move for Zaha, then it has to be this January or the summer at latest. Otherwise, it will be a case of looking on at performances like this with even more envy in the future.
