Journalist Charles Watts has shared what he noticed about Gabriel Jesus during Arsenal’s warm-down game after their victory over Newcastle United.

Gabriel Jesus made a surprise return to the bench on Saturday as Arsenal thrashed Newcastle 4-1 at home.

The Brazilian striker hasn’t featured since scoring and assisting in the 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest last month after picking up a knee injury.

Arsenal have been in exceptional form over the past few weeks in his absence and the 26-year-old may well face a difficult task in terms of breaking back into the side.

But as Jesus continues to step up his recovery, Watts has claimed the striker was ‘absolutely on it’ during a warm-down game on Saturday evening.

What Jesus was spotted doing after Arsenal vs Newcastle

Speaking in his latest YouTube video, Watts shared what he noticed about Jesus while Arsenal’s substitutes participated in a 20-minute game after the win over the Magpies.

“After the game on the weekend, when all the fans leave the stadium, I was still there doing my video and I often see it,” the journalist said. “The substitutes come out onto the pitch and they all have a very, very high-intensity game. It goes on for about 15 to 20 minutes – a small-sided game on one-half of the pitch with full-sized goals and they have a really intense match.

“I watched Gabriel Jesus, who took full part in this session, and I watched him very, very closely and he was all over the place. There was no easing back into it, he looked absolutely on it. I thought it was quite interesting to watch, especially as he didn’t get any minutes in the Newcastle game.”

Having Jesus back and firing would be a huge boost for Arsenal in their hunt for a Premier League title.

Despite their exceptional goalscoring form of late, Jesus remains an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s side.

He starred for the Gunners at the City Ground before picking up a knee injury and it would appear he’s raring to go once again.
